Hello everyone! It's Mattie, the site founder here.
I know I'm a RED Scout and all, but, please, hear me out. Before you join, or if you already are a member(regardless of Team, Class or Rank), please read my rules for this site, so everyone will have a good time here. Even if you do end up losing...
First rule - Do NOT ask for any personal information! Like, seriously. I may be a bit nit picky on this, but with all of these crimes and stalker cases happening lately... I just don't want to have any of that happen here, okay? It just ruins the fun. For. Every. One. Roleplaying is starting to get a bad reputation because of this, and I really want that misjudging to stop so everyone can someday roleplay together without the worries of being abducted or their computers hacked into. Call me a peace lover or whatever, but... Seriously. I'm being honest.
Second rule: Be respective to other members. Sure, in character, a Heavy can't really act like a Scout is on the same level as him or whatever, but out of character, act as if everyone else is an equal. People will be more happy that way. Believe me. And if you respect others, they will respect you.
The third rule is try to tone the swearing down... I don't mean to completely baby proof the forum, but if you're using the F word(I can't even bear to type it... Sorry, I've been modding and admining for far too long... Gah.) every other word you type... Well... You will find that not many will... Um... Like you, to put it briefly.
Fourth rule: The usual roleplay things:
No Mary Sues(you can name your character Mary Sue... But don'r make her/him a Mary Sue), no flaming(unless it's literal and you're a Pyro), no trolling(unless you're a troll that lives under a bridge), godmoding, spamming(unless you are making SPAM, the meat variety...), powerplaying, harassing or cyber bullying.
The fifth rule is, unless you're not a great English speaking, do try your best to type properly. I don't mean to be a Grammar or Spelling Nazi(I have made plenty of typos myself...), but to be honest, writing slangy really irks me when people talk like this:
I may be exaggerating a little, but this really annoys me. Of course, you can keep some internet short forms like 'brb', 'afk', 'gtg' and all of that stuff. Just don't use that for actual roleplaying. You are welcome to use it in the chatbox or out of character.
My sixth rule for the site is: Please do not argue with another member out of character, or act like a Moderator or a Administrator if you aren't one. If a mod or admin believe someone is acting inappropriately, or breaking the rules, they will talk or ban that member. If you would like to report someone, you are free to do so as well.
Seventh rule: I would love it if you don't post or chat about porn, sex and all of that stuff. Team Fortress 2 is obviously not about that. It is about fighting, not trying to have you know what with another player. (I know there was that one suggestive part in Meet The Scout, but they didn't go on about it.)
The eighth rule is: It's okay to go a little gorey. It is TEAM FORTRESS 2. People get blown up and all of that fun stuff. If you are squeamish... I suggest... Um... Wait... Why exactly are you here? Okay, I don't actually mean to be that rude... Maybe we can set up a special Pyro Vision area for you, if you don't like all of the violent roleplaying, okie dokie lokie?
Ninth Rule: Before you start roleplaying, please please PLEASE have your registration form approved by an administrator or a moderator. Thank you!
Tenth rule: Please listen and respect the moderators and administrators. They are doing what they think is best for the forum, and if they deem not fit to be staff here, I will demote them. Don't worry.
The eleventh rule(almost wrote Eleventh Doctor there!) is to use some indication that you are speaking out of character by the use of parentheses, or spoiler tabs, like this:
Other members will appreciate when you are out of character and when you are in character. I have seen too many times a member typing in character and hurting others' feelings due to not knowing they were out of character.
The final rule is that you must abide by the rules, otherwise you will be potentially banned from the site, for an undetermined period of time.
If anyone would like to add a rule, or have any questions, complaints and or comments, feel free to message me. I promise I won't bite.. Yet. I'm not sure if the zombies will convert me into one of them when they come. (I'm planning on surviving, of course! They won't get me THAT easily.)
